As soon as the oil spill cleanup process started, BP hired Louisiana inmates to clean up the oil. Residents, who were already furious about losing jobs, were quite upset at BP for giving jobs to prison inmates when so many other citizens were unemployed.

One reason is that it’s a win win situation for BP. By hiring inmates, BP gets cheap labor and great tax-write offs. The inmates who work these jobs also get to keep some of the money they earn, while BP receives a tax credit of $2,400 for every inmate they employ. Do you think this is fair??
